Crumble & Whisk Pâtisserie is a bakery in Oakland, California, serving signature cheesecakes and locally-sourced comfort desserts to the Bay Area community. What began as homemade cheesecakes sold door-to-door has grown into a beloved storefront and full-service kitchen.

Founded in 2013 by Chef Charles Farriér, Crumble & Whisk represents a culinary journey that started in childhood and wound through restaurants and cruise ships before landing on pastries. Charles built the business from the ground up—literally selling $7 cheesecakes to neighborhood barbershops and beauty shops to save money for permits and licensing—turning his passion for excellent, locally-sourced food into a thriving hometown bakery.

Challenge: From sweets to spreadsheets

Charles and his team knew their way around a cheesecake, and he was no stranger to the struggles of managing a team and keeping labor costs in check. The problem was time, and how it seemed to keep slipping away from them despite their best efforts.

"We're in the process, we're trying to get the work done, but we don't realize that the time is slipping away from us. Especially when you have employees using overtime, or they don't clock out on time, or they forget to use their break.”

Even though his team keeps growing and the schedules keep shifting, Charles Farriér is still baking cakes and developing new recipes—and a new generation of chefs.
