FAQ Page — Cash Out
The Basics
What is Cash Out?
It's a free benefit available through your Homebase app. Cash Out lets you access a portion of your already-earned wages before your next paycheck — no waiting, no interest. More details here.
How does it work?
Open the Homebase app and request a Cash Out.
The money is sent directly to your bank account by Homebase.
On your next payday, the amount is automatically repaid to Homebase from your bank account.
Your employer is not involved — it doesn't change your paycheck or payroll at all.
How much can I cash out?
You can cash out up to 50% of your earned wages for the pay period, limits go up to $600. You can make multiple requests as long as you stay within that limit. The more you use Cash Out the more your limit will grow.
What does it cost?
Free — Standard delivery: arrives in 3 business days, no cost.
$4.99 fee — Instant delivery: arrives in under an hour.
No interest. No late fees. No credit check. Ever.
Eligibility & Setup
Am I eligible to use Cash Out?
You need to:
Have logged enough hours in the pay period (typically ~5 hours)
Have the latest version of the Homebase app
Connect a qualifying bank account and debit card (see below)
Have received at least two direct deposits of $150+ per month
Have been open for 30+ days
Note: Chime accounts are supported. Homebase connects to 9,600+ banks via Plaid — if yours isn't listed, check back as new banks are added regularly.
How do I set up Cash Out?
Open the Homebase app and go to the Cash Out section.
Connect your checking account and debit card via Plaid (takes a few minutes).
Homebase verifies your debit card with a 2-cent micro-transaction — usually done in under 2 hours, up to 24 hours.
Once verified, you're ready to request a Cash Out after your next shift.
Do you run a credit check?
No. Cash Out never runs a credit check and will not affect your credit score.
Requesting & Receiving Funds
How do I request a Cash Out?
Open the Homebase app, go to Cash Out, choose the amount and delivery speed, then confirm. The money is sent directly to your bank account on file.
How long does it take to receive my money?
Standard: 3 business days — free.
Instant: Under 1 hour — $4.99 fee.
If your debit card is expired or canceled, the transfer may fail. Add a new active debit card linked to your bank account to resolve this.
Can I see my bank balance in the app?
Yes. Once you connect your bank account, you can view your balance in the Homebase app alongside your earnings. You can also opt into:
Low-balance alerts: get notified if your balance drops below $100
Overdraft protection: Homebase automatically cashes out the max available if your balance drops below $50
Repayment
How is repayment made?
Repayment happens automatically on your payday — Homebase collects the amount directly from your connected bank account. You don't need to do anything. If you think your payday on file is incorrect, contact support.
What if I can't repay on time?
You won't be able to request another Cash Out until the previous one is repaid. Homebase will never charge late fees, report nonpayment to credit bureaus, or send your account to collections.
Can I change the debit card used for Cash Out?
Yes. Contact support and the team will update your card within 1 business day. Your debit card must always be linked to the bank account you signed up with.
Privacy & Your Employer
Will my employer know I used Cash Out?
No. Cash Out is completely confidential between you and Homebase. Your employer's payroll is not affected in any way.
Is this the same as a payday loan?
No. Cash Out has no interest, no late fees, and no legal recourse against you. You're simply accessing wages you've already earned — not borrowing money.
Do I need the latest version of the app?
Yes. Always keep the Homebase app updated to access Cash Out. Download the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
